LWM TOUR

Our latest show, off the back of a successful Edinburgh run is available to tour.

OUR BACKGROUND

SpeakUp Theatre is a female-led theatre company based in London. Founded by Isabelle Kabban in 2014 the company was created with the intention of telling the stories behind closed doors, to represent the realities faced by young people and that remains the key aim of the company.

The company took its first show 'Treacle' to Edinburgh Fringe 2015, a show focusing on the realities of mental health. They returned to the Fringe in 2017 with 'Cognitions', directed by

Ruth Phillips. After the first performance in Norwich, Cognitions was selected for the National Student Drama Festival 2017.

The company's latest show 'LOVE (watching madness)' was developed in November 2017 and has been performed across London (The Drayton Arms, Poplar Union, The Tristan Bates) and in Norwich. It was performed in several sessions including the John Thaw Initiative, focusing on mental health.

The company are passionate about outreach and engagement and has run several workshops to accompany the work. Most recently they have formed a collaboration with The 888 Collective, a company which supports those with mental health difficulties get back into work. SpeakUp Theatre are providing theatre workshops for the collective and are building a creative stream for the company.
